Joshua Tree + Palm Springs

Palm Springs : 33°50'59.6"N 116°33'57.5"W

If you haven't already seen this highly instagrammable exhibit by Doug Aitkin, the house made entirely of mirrors, you still have a chance to check it out if you're in the LA or OC area or just visiting Joshua Tree/Palm Springs for a weekend getaway.

I actually flew down to LA for a Joshua Tree trip with some friends, so luckily had the chance to stop by. It does say that the exhibit is closed online, but it was actually open!

There is no real address for this place, so you'll have to put in coordinates. We made it just in time as it was closing, so I was only able to get photos from the outside. It was really quite beautiful. If you have the chance to go, I would highly recommend making this stop! It's a short walk up after you park to experience this mesmerizing house.

Hours:
Mon to Friday: open from 3:30pm to 7pm
Saturday & Sunday: from 9am to 7pm

This installation is part of the Desert X exhibition of art found dispersed across Coachella Valley. You can read more about Desert X and Mirage here.

Our Airbnb
Joshua Tree, California

I like to call this alternative camping. We stayed at this lovely airbnb in Joshua Tree. It's the kind of place where you never want to leave. The place is very spacious, so it's great for big groups. The house consists of two large living rooms, a kitchen, dining area, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, an outdoor covered porch, and a large backyard. There's a ping pong table out in the covered porch, which is super nice. In the other room, you can find games, a karaoke stage, and darts. There were 7 of us staying at the airbnb, so it was very cost effective! Bonus points for cute decor!

Key's View
Joshua Tree, California

Check out Joshua Tree's highest viewing point overlooking Coachella Valley at Key's View. We came near sunset, so the views were stunning. Great place for a photoshoot as well if you're trying to catch golden hour.
If you like climbing rocks, strolling through cactus gardens, hiking, or just enjoying the views, there's plenty of scenic things to do in Joshua Tree. The drive near sunset is one you won't want to miss. Sunsets are so pretty in the desert. A desert trip is the perfect way to unwind and relax, and to just getaway from our daily hectic lives. I definitely want to explore more of Palm Springs next time!
